Polysing Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 23, 2026
Polysing is a Chrome extension that shows synced, romanized lyrics for the song playing on YouTube Music or Spotify. This page explains what data it uses and where that data goes. In short: it only uses what it needs to show lyrics and check your pronunciation, and it never sells or shares your data.
What is sent to the Polysing server
- The song you're playing: its title, artist and length, read from the YouTube Music or Spotify page, to look up its lyrics. Polysing also looks up the next one or two songs in your YouTube Music queue ahead of time, so their lyrics are ready when they start.
- Pronunciation checks: when you use “Say it”, the text that Chrome recognized from your voice is sent to the server, together with the lyric lines you were practising, to score how closely they match. This text is not stored.
Nothing else from the page is read or sent. Polysing has no accounts and does not collect your name, email address, browsing history or anything about other websites.
Where lyrics come from
The server finds lyrics on LRCLIB, a free, community-maintained lyrics database. LRCLIB receives the song's title, artist and length from our server, not from your browser, so it does not see your IP address.
What the server stores
- A cache of lyrics for each song that has been looked up, so the same song is not fetched from LRCLIB again. It is stored by song, not by who asked for it.
- Short server logs of which songs were looked up and how long it took, used to fix problems. These logs do not include IP addresses, except a note when one address sends too many requests, which is used to spot abuse.
- Our hosting provider, Railway, may keep standard request logs (such as IP address, time and the address requested) for a short time, for security and troubleshooting.
Microphone and speech
- Polysing only uses your microphone while you are doing a “Say it” check in practice mode, and only after you allow it in Chrome.
- Your voice is turned into text by Chrome's built-in speech recognition. In Google Chrome, this is done by Google's servers, under Google's Privacy Policy. Polysing never receives or stores your audio.
- “Listen” reads lyric lines aloud with Chrome's text-to-speech voices. Some of Google's voices work online, so the line being read may be sent to Google.
What is stored on your computer
Polysing keeps recently loaded lyrics and your settings (such as what the toolbar icon opens) in Chrome's storage for the extension, so lyrics load quickly. This stays on your computer and is removed when you uninstall the extension.
What Polysing does not do
- No accounts, ads, analytics, tracking or cookies.
- No selling, renting or sharing of your data with anyone.
- No use of your data for anything other than showing lyrics and checking pronunciation.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
