Polysing Help

Synced, romanized lyrics for YouTube Music and Spotify.

Getting started

  1. Open YouTube Music (music.youtube.com) or Spotify (open.spotify.com) in Chrome.
  2. Play a song.
  3. Click the Polysing icon in Chrome's toolbar and choose Side panel or Pop-out window. Tick “Always open this way” to skip the choice next time; you can change it later with the gear in the panel.

The current line is highlighted as the song plays. Click any line to jump to it. Use Practice lines to loop a few lines, then Listen to hear a line slowly or Say it to check your pronunciation.

Common problems

The panel says “Play a song on YouTube Music or Spotify”

Make sure a song is actually playing. If you have more than one music tab open, choose the right one in the list under the message. If it still waits, reload the music tab.

“No lyrics found for this song”

Lyrics come from LRCLIB, a free, community-maintained lyrics database, and not every song is there. On YouTube Music, songs uploaded by other users often show the uploader's name instead of the artist's, which makes the search miss.

The lyrics are a little early or late

Use the offset − and + buttons above the lyrics to move them later or earlier.

It says “Unsynced lyrics”

LRCLIB only has the words for that song, without timing, so no line is highlighted as it plays.

“Say it” shows “Allow mic”

Click Allow mic. Chrome opens a tab to ask for the microphone, because the side panel can't show that prompt itself. Allow it there, then go back to the panel. Your speech is turned into text by Chrome's speech recognition, which sends your voice to Google; see the privacy policy.
